So… Here I am. Starting a blog. Who would have ever thought it? I suppose this is what results from weeks of being stuck in bed with mono and a mind racing with all of the things I should be doing instead of lying (laying?) here getting better.
First let me introduce myself. I’m Gabi. I thought about writing under an alias since I have never been one who has liked to share my writing, let alone my inner thoughts, with others. However, I figure that if any of you out there actually can relate to what I write or magically find my thoughts to have some substance, then I would want you to know where they really came from.
While I am sitting here writing my first blog post (eek… somewhat scary), many of my friends are back on campus spending their whole night up in the library studying for their finals… Thank God I’m not them. Seeing that I have always had the worst luck with my health, it’s no surprise to me that I’m spending the last few weeks of my second semester in college in bed surrounded by tissues, medicine, and various liquids that are supposed to make me feel better. However, I’ve been starting to get a little stir-crazy (as one does) and begun to feel quite unproductive. Ergo, the creation of this blog.
Recently, I witnessed an extensive and somewhat ridiculous commentary on the recent rioting on Baltimore… on Facebook. You know the kinds of “arguments” I’m talking about. I’m not one to get involved in pointless fights with strangers in the comment sections of posts… because honestly what good is that doing? However, I don’t think it’s right to just completely remain opinionless and I thought there might be a better way to have these conversations (Hopefully it won’t just be a one-sided monologue. What good is having thoughts if they won’t be challenged?).
In this blog, I hope to write about my opinions on things in my daily life, issues occurring in the news, or just general things that I can’t seem to get my mind off of. I don’t know if anyone will actually read any of it, but hey, I might as well give it a shot.
If any real-life bloggers are reading this, please reach out! I would love to have advice from people who actually know what they are doing.
So, bear with me as I partake on this journey and let’s see where this goes…
